This morning went into Dr Zorah’s blog, a title `Payment for Fees for Next Semester’ appeared. This prompted me to realize that I have been in Unimas for more than 3 months already, and the first semester of my study will end in less than two months. Mid-term exams are just round the corner. Time passed really fast. My decision of packing up my school bag and returned to lecture room seem like only being made yesterday.
It was all started with an advertisement of Unimas intake in the newspaper offering CMBA programmes via coursework. All this while I had the intention of upgrading myself academically but could not find a course that suit my working life. Out of curiosity, I attended the briefing held in Holiday Inn on 25 May 2008. The response was very good, more than twenty people attended the briefing on that Sunday afternoon. The programmes seem to suit me very well as most of the lectures will be conducted on Saturday and Sunday, the potential students will be coming from various disciplines which will be a good platform for career networking, and the course structures sound interesting too.
But, in my mind, I kept asking myself, can I cope with the tight schedule of the study; although the subjects sound interesting but they are new to me, can I catch up with the rest of the class; to what extend will I have to sacrifice my family life; and most of all, do I have the privilege of becoming the most senior student in class? After straggling for quite sometime deciding whether to apply for the course, I finally told myself to just apply for it, if I was accepted by Unimas, then go for it and do my very best. Rather than regret of not doing it in the later part of my life. It will be a bit too late.
After I submitted my application and sent in all relevant documents, for several weeks I was busy checking my mail and waiting anxiously for the reply of Unimas. But, each day ended up with great disappointment. I nearly gave up hope of becoming a Unimas student. One day, I saw a big envelope on my study table. A document sent in by Unimas via Pos Laju. This was the document which I presumed that I will not be receiving it anymore, as the enrolment date was less than a week away. I quickly get my medical check-up in ordered, gather the required fee and prepared myself for enrolment to the programmes.
The enrolment day turned out to be another miserable day to me. After I collected the visitor pass from the security, the guard gave me a map of the university showing the locality of each building. Unfortunately, the map was too small and I hardly can read it clearly. There was no signboard around the campus and I had the difficulty of finding CTTC, the venue where I required to enroll myself. I asked around for direction, but it seem like most of the people I asked were new in the campus. Once again, I thought of giving up and forget about the enrolment. After spending almost an hour asking around, searching for the venue, I finally get myself enrolled and look forward for the orientation, which was schedule on 12th July 2008.
